Meet Christian, The Person Behind The "Life Saving Award"

July 5, 2019

Cindy Triggs nominated her son for First Responder of the Week and shared an incredible story of family and inspiration. After losing his grandmother, Christian vowed he would do as he promised and became a fire fighter. As a rookie on the job, he saved a man's life, earning himself both the "Life Saving" and "Rookie of the Year" awards. He immediately placed them both above the fireplace, next to a picture of his grandmother. Hear Cindy's love and admiration for her son on this week's Salute to First Responders.

I’m nominating my son, as a truly outstanding person and amazing hardworking talented firefighter. His journey started in 2017 when he got voted in as a volunteer firefighter and he was excited and very proud to come home and tell him grandma . This meant the world to her. He said I’m doing this for you Nannie. Shortly after he started his classes his Nannie passed away. He said mom I’m going to work hard and because a firefighter and help save lives I know I have my Nannie looking down on me . Two weeks after her passing Christian was given the chance to just that and he save a mans life. The year has passed and my son has come home to tell me mom I did it for my Nannie (grandma) I got rookie of the year and I got my life saving award for bring the gentleman back to life. He hung the award right above the fireplace of her picture and said theses are for you Nannie. Thank you for giving me the courage and strength to go every day. My son gives it his all and more and he has the true meaning of a first responder. I thank him and everyone out there for service our community. Very proud of him !
