A First Responder Salute to Captain Cory Mann from Davidson Co Sheriff's Office

Also, happy 40th birthday, Cory!

June 7, 2019

We have personally had the honor to meet The Mann family on several occasions and this week, The Wake Up With The Wolf Show could not be happier to salute Capt. Mann on First Responder Friday. We spoke with his wife, Emily, who detailed his dedication to his job, the community, and his family. A true hero, Capt. Mann has spent 18 years going above and beyond to make sure that everyone around him feels safe and secure. As we offer him a salute, let's also be sure to wish Cory a Happy 40th Birthday!

Nomination story:

Captain Cory Mann is a servant leader who pours his heart and soul into his work. He works for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office where he oversees the Investigations Division which includes: Criminal Investigations, Vice/Narcotics, TRACE (Traffic and Criminal Enforcement), Sex Offender Registration Unit, Crime Scene Investigations, Crime Prevention and Warrant Squad. He is also the Assistant Commander of the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) as well as Honor Guard. He is the Vice Chair of the Board of the Dragonfly House Child Advocacy Center as he is dedicated to helping victims of abuse. Captain Mann does an outstanding job in all of his roles. His dedication and excellence in law enforcement would be enough to win First Responder of the Week; however, one of my favorite things about Captain Mann is how he is a dedicated servant who works behind the scenes never asking for credit or accolades. For example, he has coordinated numerous large-scale fundraisers for fellow officers battling cancer, he cares deeply about the men/women that work for him and is always willing to help them with work or personal concerns. My favorite recent story that highlights his servant leadership occurred when one of the custodians was out on medical leave and the other custodian was out of town leaving the building with no custodian. The Sheriff’s Office was holding a training for other agencies this week and so Captain Mann coordinated cleaning of the building – he would also go back in the evenings to clean the restrooms, empty the trash, etc and ensure that the building was clean. He is an amazing man who has dedicated his life to public service and I would love for a servant leader like Captain Mann to receive a well-deserved shout out for his incredible hard work and service to our community.
