Presidential Debate - Yes or BS Quiz

September 26, 2016

Here's a little "Yes or BS" Quiz as we prepare for the Presidential Debate!

1.  The first televised debate was between Richard Nixon and JFK.

Yes:  It happened 56 years ago today on September 26th, 1960.  It didn't go well for Nixon, and probably cost him the election.

2.  The next televised debate in 1964 was the first one broadcast in color.

B.S. There actually WEREN'T any televised debates that year, or in 1968, or in 1972.  There was a 16-year break after Nixon and JFK, and the next televised debates were between Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter in 1976.

3.  The debate with the most viewers was between Carter and Ronald Reagan.

Yes:  About 81 million viewers watched it in 1980, and some people think tonight's debate might beat it.  The lowest rated debate was between Bill Clinton and Bob Dole in 1996, when only 36 million people bothered to watch.

4.  Two candidates once debated each other while they weren't even in the same room.

Yes:  It was Nixon and Kennedy's third debate in 1960.  Nixon did it from Los Angeles . . . Kennedy did it from New York . . . and the moderator was in a TV studio.

5.  The rules for tonight's debate say Hillary can't stand on anything to look taller.

Yes:  She's not allowed to use a stool, but she can use a smaller podium than Trump if she wants to.
