Lochte Suspended... More Like a Hand Slap!

September 8, 2016

US swimmer, Ryan Lochte, will be suspended for 10 whole months from his sport for the vandalism and lying incident from the Rio Olympics. This means he will not be allowed to compete in the 2017 World Championships. In fact, he will be 35 the next time he is able to compete, in 2019. The other swimmers involved, Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and James Feigen, also face suspensions, but not as severe as Lochte's.

Ok two things:

1) I didn't know you could be suspended from Your Sport entirely. Is there a National Swimming League I didn't know about? Like the NFL... but called NSL! I could see then maybe how a suspension would be effective. But seriously, how can a swimmer be suspended from such a broad thing? It sounds to me like a Dad took away his cell phone or car for a few weeks!

2) Do you think this will impact his career at all? What's the life span of Swimmers anyway? By the time he's 35 will he not be able to fit his walker into the pool?
