  1. Did you know that originally you were supposed to wear blue today?  It is thought that the shift to green was due to Ireland's nickname "The Emerald Isle".
  2. The first St. Patrick's Day Celebration in the US was in Boston in 1737.
  3. The green of the Irish flag stands for Catholics; Orange for Protestant and white for the wish of harmony.
  4. In Chicago, the dye the river "Kelly" green and it last about five hours.
  5. TECHNICALLY it's "Paddy's" not "Patty's" day.
