'Saved by the Bell' Reboot Reprises Iconic Character

More of your favorites will be returning to Bayside High. Now, Mark-Paul Gosselaar will be joining the ranks of originals joining the reboot of the show.

The show, which will be reprised on NBC’s upcoming streaming service Peacock, has been in the works for a while now, with rumors swirling about who would be cast as the familiar roles in the show.

The show already features the returns of original cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Gosselaar will be returning for three episodes and will be credited as a producer.

The show will explore what happens when Zack (Gosselaar), now the governor of California, closes too many low-income schools and suggests the affected students be sent to some of the other schools in the area, including Bayside.

The same sources who revealed this information added that Universal Television is eyeing Tiffany-Amber Thiessen for a return in some capacity despite earlier reports that she wouldn’t be involved in the show.

In fact, Thiessen told Us Weekly in October that she and Gosselaar had no idea the reunion was even happening. “I don’t know anything about it,” she explained. “Literally, Mark-Paul and I were like, ‘Oh, wow! I didn’t know that was happening.’ But it seems like everyone is doing a reboot these days. It’s, like, popular, I guess.”

She even put her foot down on being involved in the production at all. “Mark-Paul and I both have different shows. We’re not a part of it. It has nothing to do with us,” she insisted.
