Like it or not, it's back to school time.  We've put together a killer playlist full of optimism for a new school year, and full of emotions as you put your baby on the bus for the first time.  Let's face it, it's a tough time to see our babies grow up!  Here's the top 10 country songs to get your school year off to a good (and somewhat sappy) start:

10.) Toby Keith - How Do You Like Me Now?

I wrote your name on the 50-yard line...under the numbers said 'call for a good time'. This upbeat Toby track takes us back to all of our awkward years, and how (thankfully) we all overcame the zits!

9.) Carrie Underwood - Don't Forget To Remember Me

Carrie's 2007 ballad reminds us to stay grounded, call MeMaw and never forget where we came from.  If you've got one heading to college, slide this one on his playlist before he pulls out of the driveway!

8.) Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces

If you're from a small town, you feel like the grips keep you from flying high...until you grow up, move away and long for the small town spaces.  The Dixie Chicks hit us with sweet harmonies, sharing the story of a young girl longing for the next chapter in her life - the wide open spaces to grow.

7.) Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying

A song that says we should never take life for granted.  This was one of the biggest hits of 2004 - which could be considered the prequel to Humble and Kind.

6.) Rascal Flatts - My Wish

If you're finding it hard to dig up the right words to share with your college freshman...put this on, and let Rascal Flatts share what's on your heart.

5.) Brad Paisley - Letter To Me

What would you say to yourself if you could write him or her a letter?  Brad opens up in a very personal song, helping round off the rough edges of teenage anxiety.  Remember, it'll all be OK - 'you should see your kids and wife'.  Such calming lyrics for anyone starting a new school this year.

4.) Kenny Chesney - I Go Back

From the 'savor the flavor' of your high school years department, Kenny Chesney's early 2000's hit takes us on a romantic journey of bonfires, football games and hanging at the levy.

3.) George Strait - Check Yes Or No

The innocence of young love!  The King of Country Music takes us back to homeroom class and the tender feelings that come from passing notes - and waiting for a circle.  You may have to explain to your kids how passing notes worked...before smartphones...

2.) Leanne Womack - I Hope You Dance

'I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean'...another great song to share with your student as he or she embarks on the next chapter of his or her life.  Thank goodness this song exists in the coffers of country music for those of us who have a real hard time putting emotions into words.

1.) Kenny Chesney - Don't Blink

Every year we take a 'first day of school' photo of our babies...and right before our eyes, we see the baby leave, and the young adult arrive.  Don't Blink...time goes faster than you think...amen.
